Lets not mistake this Lodi with the one in California, I am in Ohio. The Temp is 7 degrees, I guess I should be happy at least it is not below 0 YET. Still it is cold. My Heat keeps kicking on.
I finished my Christmas shopping to day. Like many of you out there, times are a little different then they were last year. Lots of cut backs. But is a sense that is good , we need to remember what the true meaning of Christmas is all about and teach our children or grandchildren what it is to give and receive. I know in my generation we didn't have a lot for Christmas and really were happy with the little things we received. Looking back the one thing we had that today's kids don't have is the fear of what comes next. And that is because our parents made us do for ourselves and there for we were go getter's. To days kids have been enabled, by who? us. We need to learn to say no. If they want something make them work for it. I suggested to my one grandson go around to the elderly people in my neighborhood and see if they need there garbage taken out. What ever they want to give him they give him if they can't afford any thing then he is to help with out payment. But God bless them they pay him all the time.I have to tell them not to give him so much because I want him to learn money does not grow on trees and people will pay for what they get. Also I want him to learn to help people that are less fortunate then he. But any way I must say it is nice to teach the young but it is awful when they do not listen and learn.
